Prophet Zechariah a younger contemporary of Prophet Haggai, who addressed himself to the same task as Haggai, that of inducting the people to rebuild the Temple. His written message form a significant link between the earlier prophets to whose ministry he makes references chapter 1:6 and the later phase of God’s redemptive work to which his book bears such eloquent testimony.
Thus, he helps us to look forward to the day when the completed kingdom of God will be established and to fill our joyful expectation regarding that day with rich scriptural content.
