The Epistle to Ephesians generally presents doctrine in the first half and exhortation in the last, yet the line cannot be draw absolutely. The doctrine discourses occasioned by the practical situation and the exhortation are studded with gems of truth. Apostle Paul’s praise swells to exultation over the plan of God for His saints though redemption by Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. Pausing only with two prayers-see Chapter 1:15-23 and 3:14-19, Paul elaborates the implications of redemption in deliverance from sin, the new life of victory, the mystery of the unity of all saints and their union with Christ.
In the last half, the ethical implications are set forth in terms of Christian unity, the new walk, love, humility constructive human relations and victorious warfare against evil through full reliance on spiritual realities.
